Integration with Anschütz SYNAPSIS (W)ECDIS NX

A new integration with Anschütz GmbH, a global leader in maritime navigation technology, now allows Argos FLS data to be displayed within their SYNAPSIS (W/)ECDIS NX application. This new collaboration combines FarSounder’s subsurface awareness with advanced Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS), providing a more unified and data-rich navigation experience.

Argos sonar data displayed within SYNAPSIS (W)ECDIS NX UI

Designed around a modular, user-centered architecture, SYNAPSIS combines navigation sensors and systems into a seamless operational environment, reducing distraction and human error while supporting safer and more efficient navigation. Using Anschütz’s SNAP interface, third-party systems can seamlessly integrate geo-referenced data layers, such as sonar detections, onto the chart display, without any modification to the ECDIS itself.

Integrating Argos 3D FLS Data

What’s Included:

  • FarSounder sonar data overlay on ECDIS Chart

  • SonaSoft LT™ interface in a separate window inside SYNAPSIS NX

  • Visualization of both in-water targets and live/historical seafloor data

  • Filtering tools to adjust data by depth and signal level

  • Multiple color schemes for data visualization

FarSounder’s Argos sonar detections and seafloor mapping data are now available directly within (W)ECDIS NX. Operators can visualize both in-water targets, such as submerged objects or obstacles, and collected bathymetric data in real time. Users can access both historical and live sonar data, and customize how sonar information is displayed, filtering data by depth and signal level, with various color schemes for optimal visibility under different conditions.

This flexibility gives mariners a clear, unified view of their operating environment without needing to switch between multiple software systems.

Making 3D sonar Data More Accessible

This collaboration with Anschütz marks another milestone in FarSounder’s mission to make 3D Forward Looking Sonar data more accessible across the maritime ecosystem. With the release of SonaSoft LT, an app-based interface enabling 3D FLS data to be accessed virtually anywhere on board, this app also allows for direct integrations into navigation platforms, including Anschütz’s SYNAPSIS (W)ECDIS NX. Through integrations like this, FarSounder continues to expand the ways mariners can interact with and benefit from their navigational systems.

FarSounder Compatible Systems

Integration Requirements:

  • Network interface between Anschütz’s system and FarSounder’s bridge computer.

  • NMEA input from ship’s navigation sensors to FarSounder’s bridge computer

  • Internet access is required for some SonaSoft LT features

A Unified View for Safer Navigation

Integrations like this, alongside FarSounder’s partnerships with technologies such as SEA.AI, are shaping the future of multi-sensor situational awareness. Uniting below-water detections into centralized applications like SYNAPSIS gives vessel operators faster access to critical data, supporting safer, smarter decision-making.

For bridge crews, this means improved efficiency, reduced cognitive load, and a more comprehensive understanding of their vessel’s surroundings, whether navigating shallow passages, congested harbors, or remote, uncharted regions.
